Bio
Mike Wilson made history as the first men’s soccer player to be inducted into the Simpson College Hall of Fame. A four-year standout for the Storm from 1996 to 1999, Mike earned first team all-conference honors all four years as a defender, a rare accomplishment across all Simpson athletics. He closed his collegiate career with second team all-region honors in 1999.
Over his four seasons, Mike contributed 13 goals and eight assists from the backline while helping the Storm to 54 wins, including a school-record 16 victories in 1999. A three-time team captain, Mike also earned multiple team awards, including Team MVP (1999) and Best Defensive Player (1996, 1997, 1999).
Following his collegiate career, Mike has held numerous coaching roles, including head men’s soccer coach at Simpson from 2005-10. He currently serves as a Member Services Program Director for the Iowa Soccer Association and coaches Indianola High School Girls Soccer, leading the program to its first-ever state tournament qualification in 2025.
Mike graduated from Simpson in 2000 with a degree in physical education and sports administration. He went on to earn a master’s degree in human performance and sport management from Minnesota State University - Mankato and holds multiple US Soccer coaching licenses. Mike and his wife, Sue, a 2001 graduate of Simpson, reside in Indianola and are proud parents of two daughters, Joviee and Phia.
