Bio

Widely regarded as the greatest pitcher in the history of NCAA Division III softball, Kelly Schade-Fry set seven NCAA Division III single-season and career records during her career at Simpson (three of which she still owns), broke every school season and career record and led the Storm to National Championships in 1997 and 1999.  From 1996-99, she earned: First Team All-Iowa Conference honors four times (1996-99), NCAA Division III National Championship All-Tournament team recognition four times (1996-99), NFCA First Team All-American Honors three times (1997-99) and NFCA First Team All-Region honors three times (1997-99). Academically, Schade-Fry collected NFCA Scholar-Athlete accolades four times (1996-99) and GTE Academic All-America Softball Player of the Year honors twice (1998-99). She is the only player in league history to be named Iowa Conference MVP in three consecutive seasons. Held in the highest esteem, she was named the Honda Awards Division III Athlete of the Year for the 1998-99 school year, chosen as a 1998-99 NCAA To VIII Award Winner and selected as one of two ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America of the Year Team Members for all sports in 1998-99. She threw 20 no-hitters and two perfect games in her career and played one season for the Women’s Professional Softball League’s Virginia Roadsters in 1999. Off the diamond, Fry was active in the Pi Beta Phi sorority and various religious life activities. She graduated from Simpson in 1999 with degrees in business finance and accounting.
