Women’s cross country closes season at Regional Championship

NORTHFIELD, Minn — Courtney Neuendorf had her best performance at a regional meet and the Simpson women's cross country team placed 22nd at the NCAA Central Region Championship hosted by Carleton on Saturday.

Neuendorf completed the 6k course in 24:04.9 to place 77th of 218 finishers, the best regional finish of the junior's career. She placed 113th as a freshman and 90th as a sophomore.

Batting injury for most of the season, Sadie Timms returned to lead the team at the Iowa Conference Championship two weeks ago. She remained near the front of the pack for the Storm on Saturday, placing 84th. Senior Briana McCloskey turned in a top-100 finish, placing 95th.

Shelby Hunemiller, Morgan Moline, Ashlee Litterer and Jessica Gronke rounded out the Storm's finishers.

St. Olaf won the Central Region Championship with 91 points. Nebraska Wesleyan came in second, one of three Iowa Conference teams in the top-10. Wartburg placed fifth and Loras placed seventh.
