GRINNELL, Iowa — Another big effort from Jacqueline Luth and a breakout performance by Elisa Wildy wasn't enough for the Simpson volleyball team against Grinnell on Tuesday night as the Storm lost to the Pioneers in four sets.
Grinnell won the match 25-23, 25-14, 24-26, 25-16.
Luth had a match-high 16 kills and Wildy had a season-high 10 kills for the Storm (8-11), who lost their third straight. Luth had her fourth-straight match with at least 15 kills and Wildy had her most kills since finishing with 12 against Loras on Oct. 20, 2015.
Evelyn Weidman had 13 kills and hit .379 and Olivia Fromm had a double-double with 10 kills and 15 digs for the Pioneers (10-9).
The Storm are off a week until hosting Iowa Wesleyan next Tuesday, Oct. 18. The Tigers (6-14) lost to Dubuque in three sets on Saturday. Start time is set for 7:30 p.m.
