CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Rachel Schaefer led an effecient attack as Coe beat the Simpson volleyball team 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-17) on Wednesday night.
Schaefer had 11 kills and hit .310 for the Kohawks (30-3, 6-0 Iowa Conference), who hit .269 as a team in remaining unbeaten in league play.
Kat Wetjen had 10 kills and Morgan Terpstra added eight with just two errors for the Storm (14-7, 2-4), who hit .133 as a team. Katie Kieffer finished with 27 assists and Kim Rogers stayed busy with 32 digs.
Simpson travels to the Augustana (Ill.) Pumpkin Bash Tournament this weekend and closes the conference season with a critical showdown against Dubuque at home on Oct. 30. Currently fifth in the league standings, the Storm can punch their ticket into the six-team IIAC Tournament with a win over the Spartans (9-17, 1-5).
