Grinnell, IA – Kelli Ehrhardt led the Simpson women's attack with a pair of victories against Grand View but it wasn't enough as the Storm dropped both matches to the Grinnell Pioneers, 9-0, and the Grand View Vikings, 7-2, in their Saturday doubleheader.
Ehrhardt cruised through both her No. 3 singles bout against Grand View's Lauren Lightner, 6-0, 6-1 and teamed up with Kelli Greiner to pick up the win over the Vikings' duo of Lightner and Breanna Sitzman, 8-3. The Kelli contingency currently leads the team with five wins on the season.
Meanwhile Simpson's No. 6 singles player, freshman Sidney Griffith, put her Storm resiliency on display as she lost a gritty three set match to Grand View's Breanna Sitzman, 6-4, 5-7, 10-7. No. 2 Michelle Hartman also pushed her opponent, Grinnell's Virginia Purcell, to the brink after swiping the first set but eventually fell by the score of 1-6, 6-1, 10-4.
Up next the Storm take their talents to western Iowa as they prepare to do battle against Morningside College this upcoming Saturday, September 21.
