Central tops Storm in final IIAC match

INDIANOLA - In the final conference match of the 2010 season, Central defeated Simpson 8-1 at Buxton Memorial Tennis Complex on Monday.

The Dutch (9-6, 5-3 IIAC) solidified the No. 4 seed in the upcoming conference tournament by sweeping the singles competition and taking 2 of 3 in doubles.

The Storm (6-7, 4-5 IIAC) got their only win of the day at No. 3 doubles, as the team of Lynae Gruber (Shenandoah, Iowa) and Maggie McDevitt (Sioux City, Iowa) topped Trinh Le and Riley Taylor, 8-6.

Simpson goes into the tournament as the No. 6 seed, making its first appearance since 2008. Graceland visits Indianola for the final regular season match of the season Tuesday.

The Iowa Conference Team Championship takes place Oct. 8-9 at Hawkeye Tennis Complex in Iowa City.
