Title: Asst. Women's Soccer Coach

Joe Waithanji joined the women's soccer staff as an assistant coach in 2018.

Waithanji is the former assistant coach for the North Polk High School girls soccer team where he helped coach his team to consecutive state tournament appearances from 2017-18. Over the last five seasons, he has led his goalkeepers and defenders to 50 shutouts while his team collected 70 total wins. Many of his goalkeepers and defenders have been awarded all-conference and all-state honors.

Waithanji is a 2010 graduate of Grand View University with a degree in business finance. He was a member of the men’s soccer team and was coached under the guidance of Blair Reid and Casey Mann. 

A native of Eldoret, Kenya, Waithanji currenlty lives in Polk City, Iowa with his wife, Ashlee and their two sons, Abram and Graeme.
