INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Simpson women's soccer player Cami Schmalz adds another postseason award to her resume as she was placed on the 2019 Academic All-District 8 First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Schmalz is joined by 11 other players on the District 8 Team from NCAA Division III programs across 21 states and Canada. The junior is one of four student-athletes honored from the American Rivers Conference.
A junior midfielder from Muscatine, Iowa, Schmalz maintains a 4.00 GPA while studying psychology. After scoring just three goals in her previous two seasons with the Storm, Schmalz exploded with eight goals this past year to lead the squad. Schmalz ended with five game-winning goals to top the conference and is currently seventh in team history with seven game-winners. Schmalz earned her way onto the Honorable Mention All-American Rivers Conference Team by helping Simpson to its first conference tournament appearance since 2013 and most wins in a season since 2011 with 10.
