Storm close encouraging 2018 season against Coe

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Coe got on the board early and the Simpson women's soccer team couldn't battle back in a 3-0 loss in the regular season finale Tuesday night at Buxton Stadium.

The Storm close the season 4-12 overall and 2-6 in the American Rivers Conference. Coe is now 10-7-1 and 3-5 in the league, earning the sixth and final spot in the conference tournament.


Ashlyn Moos scored the game's first goal on a cross from 5 yards out just over 2 minutes in. Sydney Schroder went far post from 25 yards out to make it 2-0 in the 16th minute and Shalyn Kinney tacked on a third goal in the 73rd minute.

Cassidy Price gave Simpson its best chance, putting a shot on frame in the 33rd minute.


"I'm incredibly grateful to Mackenzie, Zoe and Caitlyn for their leadership and unrelenting passion for this program. This was a group of senior that led by example in the best way possible. Their ability and go-all-out mentality was contagious and set a truly great example for our underclassmen.

"There are high points to celebrate and clear progress made during our 2018 season. Sill, our returning players remain hungry and are eager to attack our goals for 2019."


  • Zoe Seiler made nine saves in the final game of her career. She closes her four seasons with 198, good for fourth in school history.
  • The Storm said goodbye to seniors Seiler, Mackenzie Finnegan and Caitlyn Berkey.
