Petersen named IIAC Player of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Simpson women's soccer goalkeeper Megan Petersen earned Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Defensive Player of the Week honors for the period ending Oct. 30 after figuring into a pair of shutouts last week.

Petersen, a junior from Indianola, Iowa, played 45 minutes without allowing a goal and nabbing four saves in the Storm's 6-0 win over College of St. Mary in the regular season finale. On Saturday she turned in her third clean sheet of the season and made three saves in the Storm's 2-0 win over Central in the first round of the IIAC Tournament.

The award is Petersen's third of her career and second of the season. She also took home the award for the period ending Oct. 9.

Petersen and the third-seeded Storm square off against second-seeded Wartburg in the IIAC Tournament Semifinals on Wednesday in Waverly. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
