WR Preview: Storm set to host A-R-C Wrestling Duals on Saturday

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- On Saturday, the Storm wrestling program will host four teams as part of the American Rivers Conference Wrestling Duals.

Coe (9-5, 2-0 American Rivers), Loras (7-1, 2-0), Luther (7-5, 1-1) and Nebraska Wesleyan (2-5, 0-1) will all make the trek to Simpson to take part in the event.

Highlighting the event will be No. 8 Loras and No. 10 Coe, as both programs are currently sitting in second place in the conference standings.

The meet will begin at 9 a.m. inside Cowles Fieldhouse.

The Storm (1-7, 0-1) competed last weekend at the Matman Invitational at Cornell College, with senior DeVaughn Scott grabbing a third-place nod. Scott currently holds a 16-3 mark on the year at 197-pounds, while six of those wins occurred via fall. RJ Brown leads the team with 17 victories at 174-pounds.

Coe brings four wrestlers that are currently ranked in the top-10 in either the National Wrestling Coaches Association or polls. Bryce Scott paces the squad with 18 wins and Josh Gerke has 16.

Luther is led by Dave Mitchell, who is in his 23rd year at the head of the helm for the Norse. Luther has 12 wrestlers that boast double-digit wins this season and Logan Kennedy sits in front with 11 wins by fall.

The 2017-18 NCAA DIII Championships 197-pound Runner-up, Guy Patron Jr., enters as the highest-ranked individual at the meet on Saturday. Patron Jr. is ranked No. 2 in the NWCA and polls in the 197-pound weight class. Loras has three wins over ranked foes this year and its only loss came against No. 1 Augsburg on Dec. 15.

Nebraska Wesleyan is led by NWCA No. 5 Eron Haynes and Justin Hennessy. Haynes enters with 19 wins and Hennessy has 12. The Prairie Wolves have fallen to two ranked opponents this season, both were American Rivers Conference members.

The Storm travel to Loras on Jan. 26 for the Duhawk Open, which begins at 9 a.m.
