Storm wrestlers set for trip to Nashville

INDIANOLA, Iowa — The Simpson wrestling team makes its annual trip to Nashville, Tenn. this Saturday, Dec. 17 for the Gator "Boots" Duals hosted by Luther College at McGavock High School. 

The Storm (1-3 overall) will wrestle three duals, facing Waynesburg, Olivet and Huntingdon. Simpson is coming off a solid performance at its own Luther L. Hill Invitational, in which it placed 11 wrestlers and sent four to the finals.

SIMPSON IN THE RANKINGS
Three Storm wrestlers currently find themselves in the D3wrestle.com Rankings, released Dec. 8: Clayton Fenzl (top contender at 125), Zach Johnston (HM at 141) and Colby Vlieger (HM at 285).

GATOR DUALS HISTORY
Luther started hosting The Gator Duals in 2006 in Orlando, Fla. From 2012-13 the Gator Duals moved to New Orleans, La. Since then the event has been held in Nashville. "Boots" was added to the title to reflect the new location.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION
The Waynesburg Yellow Jackets out of Waynesburg, Penn. compete in the Presidents' Athletic Conference. The Yellow Jackets and head coach Ron Headlee are 5-5 on the season and are coming off a 20-18 upset win over No. 18 York on Dec. 10. The Olivet Comets out of Olivet, Mich. compete in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Comets and head coach Brandon Brissette are 3-4 on the season.
