Women’s golf in fifth after first day of A-R-C Championship

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Hannah Gordon carded an 82 and the Simpson women's golf team sits in fifth place after the first 18 holes of the American Rivers Conference Championship from Pheasant Ridge Golf Course.

The Storm shot 347 as a team, 11 back of fourth-place Wartburg and 29 in front of sixth-place Buena Vista. Central and Dubuque are tied for the team lead after shooting 327.

Gordon is in eighth-place after the first round, eight back of the pace set by Dubuque's Daniela Miranda. Madison Hance enjoyed a solid round, firing an 87 to put herself in a tie for 15th. Kelsa Berkland shot an 88 to tie for 19th, Lydia Martin shot 90 to tie for 25th and Haley Booton shot 92 to tie for 28th.

Round two of the four-round championship begins at 9 a.m. Sunday from Pheasant Ridge.
