LAMONI, Iowa - Haley Booton fired a career-best 81 and the Simpson women's golf team placed in third and sixth place out of eight teams at the Graceland Invitational on Saturday.
Simpson brought two teams to the invitational and shot a 342 finishing third, a season best, and a 384 placing sixth. Simpson placed seven strokes behind Waldorf University while Grand View University won the invitational with a 332.
Booton's 81 was good for a tie for second with Waldorf's Maria Valdes, one stroke behind Maria Mantilla of Grand View. Teammates Lydia Martin and Kelsa Berkland tied for fourth (84), one stroke behind Booton.
Simpson travels to Storm Lake for the Buena Vista Invitational next Friday to start the two day tournament. Tee off time is at noon. The Storm will also take a team to the one day Southwest CC Invitational in Creston next Friday.
