CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Simpson sprinter and hurdler Dylan Kalinay earned Iowa Conference Track Performer of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, Feb. 11, the league office announced Monday. It is Kalinay's second-straight weekly honor and his third of the indoor season.
Kalinay earned Track Performer of the Meet honors at Grinnell's Darren Young Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 10 after winning both the 60-meter dash and the 60-meter hurdles. The senior from Toledo, Iowa ran a career-best 6.96 seconds in the 60, the third-fastest time in school history and 17th-best in Division III. He ran the 60 hurdles in 8.23 seconds to win the event for the third straight meet.
Kalinay now owns a pair of top-20 performances in the nation. He won the hurdles in 8.17 seconds last Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Wartburg Select, currently eighth in Division III. Kalinay also won IIAC Track Performer of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, Feb. 4.
He has won IIAC Track Performer of the Week 10 times throughout his illustrious career: six times indoor and four times outdoors.
