Tillison named IIAC Swimmer of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Simpson swimmer James Tillison earned Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, Dec. 2, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Tillison, a freshman from Ada, Okla., competed in seven events at the UNO Mutual of Omaha Invitational, helping set school records in all four relays and shattering the Simpson mark in the 200 butterfly by four seconds as the Storm took fifth overall.

He was part of Simpson's fourth-place 400 medley relay (4:15.33) and fifth-place 200 medley (1:52.62), 400 freestyle (3:40.61) and 200 freestyle (1:39.11) relays. Tillison also took fifth with his school-record mark in the 200 fly (2:17.64), sixth in the 400 IM (5:03.97) and 10th in the 500 free (5:29.70).

Tillison and the Storm host Iowa Central on Friday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m.
