DUBUQUE, Iowa -- Despite owning an 18-10 shot advantage, the Simpson men's soccer team could not push a shot into the net as the Storm played to a scoreless draw at Dubuque on Saturday in a two overtime contest.
This is the first time in the series that a match ended in a tie and snaps a three-game winning streak for Simpson (14-3-2, 4-2-1 A-R-C) against the Spartans (9-5-2, 4-2-1 A-R-C). Both teams are tied for second in the league standings with 13 points.
Jake Potratz had four saves in the 110-minute contest to produce the team's ninth shutout of the season.
Simpson had just two shot attempts combined in the overtime periods, with both coming in the first extra frame.
The Storm conclude the regular season on Tuesday with a home match against Nebraska Wesleyan. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. inside Buxton Stadium.
