WAVERLY, Iowa -- In an American Rivers Conference slugfest, Jack Palen's goal late in the second half stood up as the game winner and Wartburg beat the Simpson men's soccer team 1-0 on Saturday night.
Palen scored the lone goal of the game off a cross from Michael Hegelheimer in the 81st minute, the lone blemish on Jake Potratz's sheet.
The Storm are now 10-5-2 overall and 4-2-1 in the American Rivers Conference. Wartburg is 9-6-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the league.
Potratz made six saves between the posts.
