INDIANOLA, Iowa -- For the second year in a row, the Simpson men's basketball team earned the Team Academic Excellence Award as announced by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
The award recognizes outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2017-18 season. The Storm boasted a 3.57 GPA during the season, up from 3.54 a year ago.
Simpson joined Coe and Nebraska Wesleyan as the only Iowa Conference schools to receive the honor.
In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA must count the grade point averages of all men's student-athletes who competed during the 2017-18 season.
