INDIANOLA, Iowa -- George Love and Braedon Tovey join the Simpson football coaching staff for the 2019 season, head coach Matt Jeter announced.

Love will serve as the defensive coordinator and Tovey as the special teams coordinator.

"We are fired up to welcome Bradeon Tovey and George Love to the Storm football family," Jeter said. "Throughout the process, we were looking for coaches who embodied our culture and expectations as we continue to build men up and compete for championships."

Love enters the sidelines for the Storm after spending the past three seasons as the special teams coordinator and linebackers coach with Angelo State University. Before that stint, he held the same role and added secondary coach duties to his title at Millersville University from 2013-15.

Love had a two-year stint as the outside linebackers coach at the University of North Dakota from 2009-10. He served as a graduate assistant at Northwest Missouri State University from 2007-08 and was a student assistant at Eastern Illinois in 2006.

While in uniform, Eastern Illinois won two Ohio Valley Conference titles and made it the NCAA Division FCS Tournament. He was a ball hawk for the Panthers and was tied for first on the team during the 2002 and 2003 seasons in interceptions.

The St. Louis, Mo. native graduated in 2007 from Eastern Illinois with a degree in general studies. Love currently resides in Indianola, Iowa with his wife, Clemente' and their two children, George III and Cruze.

Tovey returns to Bill Buxton Stadium, where he spent his collegiate playing days for Simpson from 2013-15. While donning the red and gold, Tovey tossed for 363 yards and had a 54.5 completion percentage, and rushed for two touchdowns.

Tovey joins the staff from Hastings College, where he was the offensive graduate assistant since 2017. The year before, Tovey was a student assistant for the Storm in 2016.

In 2016, he earned a degree in psychology from Simpson. From there, he received a masters of teaching in K-12 physical education from Hastings. A native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Tovey currently resides in West Des Moines.

The Storm are gearing up for their season opener against Bethel on Sept. 7 in St. Paul, Minn. The contest is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
