The American Rivers Conference announced its 2019 Spring All-Academic Team on Thursday and Simpson had 38 student-athletes receive the honor. From around the league, 348 student-athletes were recognized for the achievement.
After two straight second-team nominations since the end of the 2019 season, Truman Schmitt was finally placed on a first team, this time by the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings in the Central Region.

The Simpson baseball team ran into a tough Dubuque squad on Saturday and dropped both games in the series-ending doubleheader. The Spartans won 6-0 and 3-1 over the Storm to move a spot ahead in the American Rivers Conference standings.

Zach Hollingsworth got it done at the plate and on the mound to lead the Simpson baseball team to a doubleheader sweep of Buena Vista on Saturday, winning game one 8-5 and game two 9-7. The Storm took 2 of 3 in the conference-opening series.
Tanner Jansen enjoyed a strong outing on the mound and Kolton Arnold had a game-high three hits, but a two-run eighth inning proved to be the difference as Buena Vista edged the Simpson baseball team 4-2 in the home opener Friday.
After being named as the American Rivers Conference Male Athlete and Position Player of the Week, Truman Schmitt has been placed on the D3Baseball.com Team of the Week at catcher, for the games during March 11-17.
