Crandell named IIAC Player of the Week
INDIANOLA - Simpson outfielder Tyler Crandell earned Iowa Conference Baseball Player of the Week honors for the period ending March 6, 2011.
Crandell, a sophomore from Ames, Iowa, hit .429 with six hits, six runs scored, a home run, and five RBI in 14 at-bats as the Storm opened the season with a 3-game sweep of University of the Ozarks. He had two hits in each game and led Simpson offensively in game two of the series, driving in five with a home run in a 9-6 victory.
Crandell and the Storm (3-0) travel to the Russ Matt Greater Phoenix Invitational on March 12-18. Simpson begins the trip with a doubleheader against Concordia (Ill.).
